In the 1960s, Elwin Wilson was driven by hate to beat up John Lewis just for being different. As a young white supremacist, Wilson left John Lewis, a young African American unconscious in a pool of blood in a South Carolina bus depot. He was driven by hate. Recently Wilson apologized to Lewis (now a Georgia congressman). He apologized out of fear that he won't make it to heaven. Wilson graciously accepted the apology. An amazing story on both sides. But I can't help thinking that now, instead of hate, it's fear that drives Wilson. Either way, a sad way to live. Here's the cover I just completed for Pacific Sun.
