Big Waves

Large winter swells give the island a festive feeling. The main drive in town is bumper to bumper traffic, both with surfers cruising for the best waves and with spectators watching the best surfers. People set up chairs just to sit and watch for awhile. If you heard the chorus of, "Ooohs," and "Ahhhs", you might think you were at a fireworks display. Only instead of the sizzle and pop of fireworks, there is the deep rumble and crash of waves. And a beautiful haze of sea mist along the shore from all the energy dissipating, the wave's last breath. This is a cover I did for Energy Biz magazine. Thought I'd share it since I have big waves on my mind.
