Small Pleasures from the Garden

Right now, I have bean vines that have taken over all 3 garden boxes. Make shift trellises built out of bamboo and mango branches are completely hidden under the gorgeous tangle of green. When I survey our tiny garden, I see 3 pineapple, Okinawan spinach, Malabar Spinach, rosemary, lemongrass and mint. The Sumatran cherry bush offers a few lantern like berries and you can hear the occasional avocado drop from the tree onto the ground. This is an illustration for a Girl Scout cook book for which I also drew muffins, gorp, banana splits and sandwiches. But the salad is my favorite!
