Illustration Friday: Tree

I just noticed that the property on which one of my favorite trees stands, is for sale. This beautiful rudraksha tree drops bright blue fruit called Shiva's Tears, on the ground. Inside each fruit (which is about the size of a small strawberry) is a seed which is used to string Buddhist prayer necklaces called malas. As the leaves on the tree mature, they turn a bright red and spin in the air as they fall to the ground. I've posted this image before but since it is on my mind, thought I'd share again.

When I first looked at the texture on the tree, I was thinking 'eyes' in an abstract way. Love how that might tie in to your story of Shiva's tears.
