From Jing Jing—Just finishing up a new book for BeachHouse Press called Up in the Hawaiian Sky by Lavonne Leong. It was a lot of fun interpreting the land/seascape that I love so much into picture book illustrations. If you have visited the different islands of Hawaii, you know that the physical landscape of each is quite different. The scenes in this book are inspired by the pali of Maui and Oahu, the coffee farms of Hawaii Island (home of world-famous Kona coffee) and Polulu and Waipio Valleys, both on Hawaii Island. I'm in the midst of a big project right now so I'm going to give Mike a turn on the next few posts. Aloha!!
