Growing up, my mom was always telling me to cover my mouth when I laughed. She said that flies would fly into my mouth! But, when I'm in the middle of a good laugh, the last thing I think about is covering my mouth. Now when I watch the Japanese version of Iron Chef, it makes me laugh (without covering my mouth, of course) to see how the beautiful women Japanese movie stars on the judging panel cover their mouths when they laugh.
Happy to say, I still haven't swallowed any flies.
This is one of my first experiments with monoprints at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa, HI.

I agree. As a totally Americanized Japanese woman, though I never think myself of that way, covering mouth when you laugh is such silly old custom! My daughter is lucky that her otherwise strict mom doesn't teach her that. Very nice piece, Jing!
Thanks for visiting my blog, Coco. It's fun to hear that your dear daughter is laughing out LOUD :)!
