2015 National Cherry Blossom Festival

I kept thinking of Robert Frost's words when I created this image, "Nature's first green is gold."
The delicious feeling and smell of the sun warming the earth, the first green leaves of crocus and daffodils breaking through bits of snow and birds singing. And of course, the first cherry blossoms!

Working on this piece for The 2015 National Cherry Blossom Festival, a 3 week celebration taking place March 19th-April 11th, in Washington D.C.. was such a joy. I played with several print making techniques and collaged them digitally. I am honored to have my image represent this event.

Did you know the Japanese have a word for cherry blossom viewing—hanami. How glorious is that?

I'll be at a poster signing in Washington D.C., details to be announced…
