Monsters Love Mike's Monsters Love School

Mike just received his copies of his newest book, Monsters Love School. The first creature he read it to was the chameleon perched on the book. After story time, the chameleon made it's way to the mango tree for a snack. Monsters Love School will be available June 24th—check out the Kirkus Review for a sneak preview!

Monsters

This is one of 3 images I did for the December/January issue of Educational Leadership magazine. The article talks about how Common Core standards can overwhelm and intimidate both students and teachers. I like the Art Director's proposal that the standards be portrayed as a monster which becomes less intimidating as the children become familiar with it.
