Year of the Horse

Love having the chance to celebrate the New Year, a second time. This Chinese New Year, is the Year of the Horse. I haven't drawn a lot of them, but am sharing 2 of my favorites. The left is from a series of Chinese New Year animals. The right is an image for Oxford University Press, to illustrate the idea,"Don't judge a horse by it's saddle.".

The Year of the Snake, Feb 4th 2013

I started working with Leo Burnett in June of 2012 to develop an image for McDonald's Lunar New Year promotions. In 2013, it's the Year of the Snake. As a kid, I remember celebrations always meant traditional red envelopes with money and savoring my favorite sweet sticky rice cake called nian gao. 2013's snake happens to be a Water Snake. The river flows through time connecting past and present. And of course, no Chinese New Year is complete without fireworks! The final image is about 30 x 40 inches. The top image is a detail of the overall poster.
